Day 2….In the school

Similar to yesterday we received an incredible welcome from the infants of the primary school as they excitedly ran behind us in the minibus, following us towards the school. We later separated in to two groups to go off and experience their education, one group went off to take part in a physics lesson, the other in an English lesson. The teachers also participated in a partnership meeting to discuss the partnership principles and the main values and goals to move forward on.

In the physics lesson we integrated with the students and exchanged different learning techniques and demonstrated these on their boards. Afterwards we discussed the similarities and differences of the methods. We also discussed about their generalised subjects and which they enjoyed and specialised in the most, these turned out to mainly be sciences and social studies. All the pupils were exceptionally generous because as soon as the class began, and work was given the pupils were very accommodating and offered equipment to use and join in with.

In class

In the English lesson we also joined with the lesson and participated in their educational games and challenges. The teacher began with a recap of their module on English grammar on present and past tenses. We later participated in a grammar challenge to do with sentences and their structures. The environment and atmosphere quickly increased and became very energetic and competitive. It was interesting to learn English as a foreign language and to go back to basics structures and tenses.

It was really overwhelming to see how much the pupils valued their education and how committed they were to their learning.  Despite the lack of equipment, the majority of pupils were very motivated and engaged in their lessons.
