THE ROYAL HIGHLAND SHOW, THE MUSIC CONCERT AND THE BAKE OFF COMPETITION

Wednesday, 19 June was our busiest day. In the morning we joined a group of students and staff to the Royal Highland Show. This is an agricultural fair. It is the biggest agricultural fair each one of us has ever been to. We were all amazed with lots of food stalls where we could taste for free. We also watched some traditional musical performances and horse racing, among other exciting things. We could not mind the weather because everything was awesome.

In the evening we were treated to the school’s Summer Music Concert. We witnessed the commitment, skill and passion of students during the performance. The students beautifully performed with dedication. Wanangwa and Innocent were also given a chance on the stage together with Sam, Katya, Zoja, Grace and Anna. They also beautifully performed the partnership song.

At the end of the concert it was humbling to meet a number of parents to the students who travelled to Malawi. They all expressed their gratitudes for the hospitality we offered to their children during their visit to Malawi.

Neema and I were also privileged to participate in the Bake Off 2019, the first ever baking competition in the history of Penicuik High School organized by the Home Economics department. The participants were a team of a teacher and a student. We teamed up with Mrs Morven Murphy. We all baked cakes which were sold to students the next day and proceeds went to partnership activities. Apart from acquiring skills in baking the Bake Off offered us some ideas on how we can raise funds for partnership activities.
